Finnegan adds Dodge to dealership

With Chrysler and Dodge being sister brands under the Daimler/Chrysler umbrella, it only made sense for Finnegan Chrysler Jeep in Rosenberg to add the Dodge brand to its dealership.Beginning Tuesday, Finnegan Chrysler Jeep Dodge, located at 26433 Southwest Freeway in Rosenberg is now the area's new home for Dodge trucks sales and service. "To have all three brands on one lot is the ultimate for us," said general manager Gary McClellan. "Dodge is the No. 1 truck company in the country, and it's a huge market in our area and in Texas, so to be able to offer trucks is really important to us."McClellan, who has been at the Rosenberg location for 12 years, said the Dodge Ram truck has been a staple in the Daimler/Chrysler line, and for years they had been trying to merge the lines but were never able to make it happen - until now."The Finnegans have the right management style to make this happen now," McClellan said of owner Paul Finnegan and his sons, Vince and Gary, who manage the dealerships.

New car, new hopes for Williams

As Jess Williams continues to chase his dream of driving in NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series, he could sure use a big sponsor and some money.

His new truck might bring him just that.

Tonight, the 21-year-old Hickory Flat native will begin his third full season running in the Super Trucks Division of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series at Nashville's Music City Motorplex.

He'll actually have to use last year's truck this weekend, while the new one gets tweaked. After a very fast test session in Nashville on Tuesday, Williams can't wait to see what his new ride can do in competition.

"That truck's going to be a rocket when we get it dialed in," Williams said.

Williams called the test session a "bonzai run" because the truck was far from being in race shape.

Toyota's new Tundra can play with the big boys

After two previous attempts at building a full-size pickup for the finicky American truck market fell short of both the company's and U.S. consumers' expectations, Toyota might just have the answer with the all-new 2007 Tundra.

There are a lot of folks counting on that -- not only at Toyota, but also in San Antonio, where the automaker has built a factory just to assemble the new Tundra.

Toyota and San Antonio need the new Tundra to be a great success, even if the traditional U.S. pickup manufacturers, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group (Dodge) have to suffer a bit.

The introduction of the newest Tundra is the "single biggest and most important launch in Toyota's 50-year U.S. history," Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Vice President and General Manager Don Esmond said during a media preview of the truck.
